How often should I wash my sleepingbag

It’s a case of less is more, here.

Even though it’s not out of the question to wash a sleeping bag, you should try to do it as seldom as possible. Washing a sleeping bag can lead to materials sustaining damage, while incorrect washing or the wrong detergent can impact on its quality and lofting performance.

So only wash your sleeping bag when it’s dirty or after using it at least 50 times.
Spot cleaning by hand is usually sufficient to get rid of little marks, using a damp cloth and lukewarm water with a little soap. And you can get rid of any unpleasant odors by airing your sleeping bag for a few hours.

Wash sleepingbags less by using a linder or wearing functional underwear

If you use a sleeping bag regularly, then it’s impossible to avoid it being exposed to a bit of dirt or sweat. But there are ways you can help protect your sleeping bag. In an ideal world, you’d use your sleeping bag when you’re freshly showered. But seeing as that’s not usually possible when you’re camping, you could consider using a sleeping bag liner. Made from silk (or other materials), a liner will absorb perspiration and is easy to wash. It also provides added insulation. Or else, you could also wear functional or technical underwear in your sleeping bag.

Should I wash my sleepingbag before use?

As it’s not a good idea to wash a sleeping bag too often, we also recommend not washing it before using it for the first time. Before its first outing, give it a good shake and allow it to air. To do this, you can hang it outdoors for several hours, but avoid placing it in direct sunlight. You should give it its first wash after around 50 nights’ sleeping in it, or if it gets very dirty.

WASH SLEEPING BAG IN WASHING MACHINE ONLY IF NECESSARY

Dovresti lavare il tuo sacco a pelo il più raramente possibile. In generale, i sacchi a pelo sintetici possono essere lavati più spesso dei sacchi a pelo in piuma. Se il piumino viene lavato troppo spesso, perde il suo strato di grasso e quindi le sue prestazioni isolanti. Tuttavia, lavare il sacco a pelo ha anche i suoi vantaggi: Con l'uso normale, il sacco a pelo perde automaticamente il loft (potere rigonfiante). While you should never wash a down sleeping bag in a washing machine, we would also not recommend washing a synthetic sleeping bag at 60 degrees Celsius (140 F).

It’s best to use a gentle cycle and wash your synthetic sleeping bag at no more than 30º Celsius (86ºF). And always read the care label first.

How to prepare your sleepingbag before washing

Before washing your sleeping bag, you should give it a thorough inspection for any holes, tears or other damage. Not sure how to mend your sleeping bag? Then contact the deuter repair service team. We’ll get your bag looking like new again. Once any damage has been fixed, you then need to carry our three steps before washing:

Close all hook & loop tabs, zippers and press studs.
Loosen off all drawcords.
Turn your sleeping bag inside out to wash. That way, the whole bag will be cleaned despite any water-resistant treatment.

HOW DO I WASH THE SLEEPING BAG properLY?

Mentre per i sacchi a pelo in piuma raccomandiamo il lavaggio a mano, i sacchi a pelo in fibra sintetica possono essere lavati delicatamente in lavatrice - con una capacità di almeno 5 kg. Ma anche i sacchi a pelo in piuma possono essere lavati in lavatrice, se necessario. Non importa di cosa sia fatto il tuo sacco a pelo, segui sempre le istruzioni sull'etichetta di cura cucita, che di solito si trova in una tasca o sull'orlo.

LAVARE CORRETTAMENTE I SACCHI A PELO: CON LAVAGGIO A MANO

Riempire una vasca da bagno con acqua abbastanza calda (circa 30 gradi).
È meglio lavare il sacco a pelo con un detergente funzionale o delicato. Attenzione: Non usare ammorbidente o candeggina!
Immergere il sacco letto nell'acqua.
Massaggiate delicatamente il detergente nel sacco letto e lasciatelo assorbire (fino a un'ora, a seconda del grado di sporcizia).
Poi sciacquare bene il sacco letto con acqua fredda.
Strizzare delicatamente il sacco letto. Attenzione: Non impastare e strizzare il sacco letto, altrimenti le cuciture potrebbero strapparsi!

LAVARE CORRETTAMENTE I SACCHI A PELO IN FIBRA SINTETICA: IN LAVATRICE

Riempire solo un sacco a pelo nel tamburo di lavaggio.
Usare solo un detergente funzionale o delicato. Attenzione: Non usare ammorbidente o candeggina!
Impostare 30 gradi e il ciclo di lavaggio delicato. Attenzione: Seguire le istruzioni sull'etichetta di cura del sacco a pelo!
Per i sacchi a pelo in fibra sintetica, mettere almeno tre palle da tennis nel cestello di lavaggio.
Dopo il lavaggio, eseguire diversi cicli di risciacquo in modo che non rimangano residui di detersivo nel sacco letto.

COME FACCIO AD ASCIUGARE BENE IL SACCO A PELO?

ASCIUGARE CORRETTAMENTE IL SACCO A PELO IN PIUMA: NELL'ASCIUGATRICE

Per i sacchi a pelo in piuma si consiglia l'asciugatura nell'asciugatrice, in modo che la piuma si distribuisca meglio dopo il lavaggio.
Per questo, buttare il sacco a pelo in piuma nell'asciugatrice solo dopo averlo fatto asciugare all'aria per qualche ora. Attenzione: Non mettere un sacco a pelo bagnato nell'asciugatrice, perché questo può danneggiare il sacco a pelo.
Mettete almeno tre palle da tennis nell'asciugatrice con esso, ad un massimo di 30 gradi. Questo ridarà al sacco a pelo la sua aria. Il piumino raggrumato si scioglie nell'asciugatrice e diventa di nuovo bello e soffice.
Attenzione: Dopo il lavaggio, non stirare il sacco letto, non cuocerlo a vapore, non esporlo a calore diretto.

ASCIUGARE CORRETTAMENTE IL SACCO A PELO IN FIBRA SINTETICA: ALL'ARIA

È meglio stendere il sacco a pelo in senso longitudinale/orizzontale su un cavallo da stalla. Importante: Non appendere su un lato, altrimenti l'imbottitura del sacco letto si distribuisce in modo non uniforme. Attenzione: I sacchi a pelo bagnati possono essere molto pesanti!
Conservare il sacco letto in un luogo riparato all'aria fresca, al riparo dalla luce diretta del sole.
Gira e scuoti il sacco letto ogni poche ore finché non è asciutto. Il sacco letto può impiegare fino a 3 giorni per asciugarsi.

IMBALLARE E RIPORRE CORRETTAMENTE IL SACCO A PELO DOPO IL LAVAGGIO

Imbottire o arrotolare? Per rendere il tuo sacco a pelo il più durevole possibile, non devi considerare solo alcune cose quando lo lavi, ma anche quando lo impacchetti e lo riponi.
