Together we care

Together we care

One of nature’s wonders.

Did you know that a snowflake is composed of around 10 million tiny ice crystals, and that collectively as snow it not only serves as water storage, air filter and insulation material for people, animals and plants, but by reflecting up to 99% of the sun’s rays, it actually protects the planet?

These transient works of art are therefore essential to life on Earth and critical in the fight to slow global warming.

REPAIR SERVICE

Functionality, durability and sustainability are pivotal in our product development. But despite their excellent quality and even with the best care any product will eventually start to show signs of wear.

For us it’s clear that mending is better than throwing away.

Not just because of the miracle-workers in our lifelong repair service team who stitch on patches and replace zippers or even carry out specific requests. But because it increases the usable lifespan of your products which means that together, we are saving resources – one stitch at a time.

A total of 5432 times in the year 2023 alone. Thanks to our conviction and a sense of responsibility toward our customers.

One of nature’s unique quirks.

Did you know that the 25,000+ types of lichen in the world form a symbiotic partnership between fungi and algae, enabling them to become established in habitats that they could not otherwise colonize on their own?

They are living proof that we achieve more when we work together and that an effective network allows all parties to benefit. It’s a unique quirk of nature. And serves as an example for us.

FAIR WEAR

We all want to live in a world where human rights are respected, people are treated fairly and paid fairly.

Which is why we work tirelessly on improving working conditions both at home and in our production facilities.

To increase our impact, in 2011 we teamed up with the Fair Wear Foundation and its members to champion working conditions that are fair, environmentally friendly, and sustainable. How? Instead of supplier hopping, we’ve worked with the same manufacturing partners for many years.

By building trust and adopting guidelines together we can maintain standards and identify areas for improvement.

And it´s all worth it. We’ve achieved Fair Wear Leader status 11 years in a row.

From a sense of responsibility for making a fairer society.

One of nature’s gifts.

Did you know that an ordinary drop of water has a total volume of 50 µl and that drinking around 50,000 drops a day is the minimum required for adults?

So, these tiny little drops have a big influence on people, animals and plant life. They form the basis for all life and must be kept pure.

made without pfas

PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are a group of synthetic chemicals that are found in many products because of their water, grease, and dirt repellent properties.

Such as water-repellent textiles, non-stick cookware, household electronics, processed food packaging, and in cosmetics, cleaning products and many more. But these very useful chemicals are also extremely toxic.

They leach into the environment during the manufacture, use and disposal of products, and are harmful to humans, animals, and nature. These “forever chemicals” disperse quickly and extensively through our food chains and water and break down very slowly over several hundred years, if at all.

We banned PFAS in 2020. We now use a finish that is not harmful to human or animal health. Thanks to our conviction and a sense of responsibility toward our people, animals, and the planet.

One of nature’s masterpieces.

Did you know that pound for pound, spider silk is four times as strong as steel and can stretch up to three times its own length before ripping?

Which makes it a state-of-the-art material with outstanding functionality that’s also harmless to the environment.

BLUESIGN

Even the most responsibly made outdoor gear creates a footprint. We aim to keep that footprint as small as possible.

That’s why, in 2008, we adopted the stringent wide-ranging standards of the bluesign® system.

It reviews the manufacturing processes throughout the supply chain for all our backpack and sleeping bag components.

This involves scrutinizing the quantity, type, and quality of materials, energy and water use, chemicals, waste, noise pollution, and occupational safety. And then optimizing them.

For a product to have the ‘bluesign® PRODUCT’ label, it must be made with a minimum of 90% bluesign® approved fabrics and 20-30% bluesign® approved components.

With backpacks made of 220 parts on average that’s a huge challenge.”

One of nature’s superheroes.

Did you know that grasshoppers use their wings to sing and their legs to hear, as well as to propel them up to two meters away? It’s equivalent to a child jumping 105 meters in one bound.

This proves they not only have incredible superpowers, but also highlights just how important it is to protect these wonderful and unique natural creations.

ANIMAL WELFARE

Down is one of nature’s wonders – and the lightest most effective protection against cold.

It comes from the fluffy under plumage of geese or ducks and works as an ultralight air cushion, with better insulation performance than any high-tech material.

Therefore, we use it in some of our sleeping bags. Our aim since 2015: to use a moderate amount of down and only if it meets Responsible Down Standard certification.

It means that the down and feathers we use come from animals that have plenty to eat and drink, no growth hormones in their food and space to roam. From chick to fully-grown goose. Sadly, that’s not always the case.

Live plucking and force-feeding practices cause serious harm to animals. We are strongly AGAINST it.

Thanks to our conviction and a sense of responsibility toward our customers and animals.
