Water, valuables and a change of clothes can soon clock up weight. Which is why deuter has stripped away as much weight as it can from its protector backpacks. The Flyt model is pared down to the minimum but still comes with features like a pump sleeve, helmet clips and a hydration system set-up. When it comes to comfort however, they’ve not made any compromises: This protector backpack has an adjustable sternum strap, compression straps and Pull-Forward hip fins. And the Airstripes back system creates a comfortable fit on the back with effective ventilation.

The Attack’s little sibling can do everything its big brother can but is specifically designed to suit the anatomy of children. TÜV certified protection for the spine and back, combined with athletic carry comfort. This biking backpack has a snug, solid fit on the back, so that the back protector always remains in position and can perform its safety function. With 8 liters’ capacity there’s easily space for a bar of chocolate, biking gloves, and a hoody, too.

The main purpose of protector backpacks is to minimize or even prevent injury during high-risk sports. But since the built-in back protectors can only provide protection for the area of the spine they cover; the backpack needs to be the right size. Which is why deuter has several different backpack sizes and fits on offer. There are Slim Line (SL) models of protector backpacks. These have a shorter back panel and straps designed for women and anyone with a shorter build. For taller people, between 1.85 m and 2 meters in height (6’ – 6’6”), there are Extra Long (EL) models with a longer back panel.
